Often it's worth cleaning, but we'll be straight with you after we look at it. Carpet from that era that has never been replaced may have worn pile, delaminated backing, or seams that have opened, and cleaning won't reverse any of that. What cleaning does fix is embedded soil, dinginess, and odor. If the fiber is physically worn through in the hallways, we'll say so instead of taking your money.
